Hi, I’m Jackie and I’m the blogger behind Food, Face, Chomp! where I write about my daily musings, recipes, and the things that tickle my fancy. I’m not sure of a lot of things, but if there’s one thing I know, it’s that I love beauty products — all kinds of them! Since summer is officially here — finally! — and the 4th of July is right around the corner, I thought I might share with you, Amanda’s dear readers, some of my must-have summer makeup products.
And with that, I bring you Summer Makeup 101!
First, and foremost, I love tinted moisturizer with SPF. When it comes time to put my face on in the morning, this is the first thing I grab. It’s lightweight and gives me a dewy — but not too dewy — complexion, and I love that it gives me added protection from the sun. Pictured here is Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20. It’s a bit pricey but totally worth it if you ask me, since it feels good, looks good, and lasts forever. If you invest in one makeup item this summer, let this be the one!
Next, I take my bronzer and lightly dust it over my entire face with a blush brush (any will do), focusing on my cheek bones, forehead, chin and the bridge of my nose. I then blend, blend, blend. Pictured here is Bobbi Brown’s Bronzing Powder in Antigua and Cover Girl Cheekers Bronzer in Copper Radiance.
Once I’m finished making my face look sun-kissed, I put a pop! of color on the apple of my cheeks with a bright pink and then blend, blend, blend again. We don’t want to look ridiculous, do we? I mean, we don’t want to look tooridiculous, do we? Pictured here are Maybelline’s Dream Bouncy Blush in Pink Plum and Laura Mercier’s Second Skin Colour in City Pink.
And when I’m finished with that, I give my eyelashes a few coats of mascara. I like one that won’t run, because I find that in the heat of the summer everything, including myself, tends to melt. This mascara doesn’t. Now, please envision a puddle on the sidewalk with a pair of beautiful eyelashes sitting on top. Pictured here: Maybelline the Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara in Glam Black.
And to finish it off, I put on a lipstick in a bright color, flip my hair and strut out the door! Pictured here: Chanel’s Coco Rouge Shine in Romance and Monte Carlo, Revlon Moon Drops in Orange Flip and my custom coral from GIELLA!
After the day’s trials and tribulations, and the heat and humidity, have gotten to me (around 10 a.m.), I freshen my face with Laura Mercier’s Smooth Focus Pressed Setting Powder – Shine Control. Oh, and does it control the shine. I loveshiny things, as long as they’re not my face.
And if you have a little extra time, why not paint your digits and your piggies in a BRIGHT PINK POPPY NAIL POLISH! I love this one.
There you have it, dear readers. I hope that reading this post made you feel a little more beautiful. I know it made me feel like I wear a lot of makeup — but I don’t, I swear! The goal here is to enhance your natural beauty, protect yourself from the sun, and let your inner beauty shine through! That’s what lip gloss is for, right? Right.
