When my dear friend Amanda asked me to help her and her boyfriend brand their new business, I jumped at the offer. I love working with friends. Not only do they respect me when it comes to getting assets together, and responding to emails, but they also usually have a pretty rad project and good sense of style.
We designed a suite of logos and a website for Amanda & Mike’s new venture, Jean & Gene Creative (because both of their middle names are Jean/Gene! Genius!) It’s a place for them to show off their projects—wedding videography, engagement photography, and design, just to name a few.
We used Pinterest to share our ideas. Here are some of our favorite pins that helped shape the design:
I really love this color palette that we came to (thanks to this awesome print). Bright and bold, yet neutral. Deserty and native, yet contemporary. Keep scrolling to see how this all plays together into the Jean & Gene brand!

For the logo design we went with completely custom, hand drawn lettering for their name, and Jaques & Giles for the “creative” part. Because their name is so long, we decided to do 2 variations—horizontal & vertical—just in case. We also designed a simple watermark they can put on their photos and use as an icon.
Lastly, the website. Once the branding was designed, the site went pretty fast. My good friend Angie Shields (@angieashields on Twitter) developed the site in WordPress which will make it super easy for Mike & Amanda to update from here on out.
I’m super proud of this project, and so happy for Amanda & Mike as they being their new adventure!
Thanks to Jean & Gene for being such amazing clients, and thanks to Angie for being such a rockstar developer. I can’t wait to work with both of you in the future!
