So sorry for the tardiness of this post. I came back from a weekend trip yesterday and just couldn’t pull myself out of vacation mode.
Temecula Valley Wine Tasting // If you like wine at all, please do yourself a favor and visit Temecula right away. I absolutely love this place. Now I’ve never been to Nappa, so I have nothing to compare it to, but for only being 2 hours away, I’m making Temecula a summer tradition from now on. This valley is just bursting with vineyards and beautiful wineries. We stopped at Callaway, Longshadow, and South Coast, and I bought at least 1 bottle from each. (photo by me)
Hair Curling Wand by Goody // I’ve had my eye on one of these curling wands because they seem so much easier to use than a traditional curling iron. I bought this one on Friday night so I could do my hair for a wedding on Sunday (the reason we went to Temecula). At first this thing pissed me off—I burned my thumb and the curls were coming out crooked—but once I got through my whole head of hair (took about 10 minutes) and shook out the curls, it looked damn good. I highly recommend this for the hair challenged, like me.
The Flight of Gemma Hardy by Margot Livesey // I started this book on Sunday morning and I’m already about half way through. Livesy modeled her story after one of my favorite novels of all time, Jane Eyre. It’s not a mashup like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, or an extrapolation like Wicked. The Flight of Gemma Hardy is a completely new work that parallels the plot of Jane Eyre, but the story is set in Scotland at the budding of the feminist movement in the 1960s. It’s really interesting to read a new book that is so familiar at the same time.
