Yep, that’s right. I got laid off last Thursday along with half my company. The investors are taking our little start up in a new direction and so everyone who was not an engineer or developer got the boot. It was a complete shock to me since I was waist deep designing a really important feature of our product that will now probably never see the light of day. But I’ll just put it in my portfolio and chalk it up to good experience.
I’m not much of a spiritual person, but some would say that I’ve learned everything I was supposed to learn from CG and now it’s time to learn something else. I think that’s true. I had the pleasure of working with the best team of people and gaining some very valuable skills. Now it’s time to spread my wings and see where they will take me.
I’m still going on vacation next week, so I’m excited to take these 2 weeks to clear my head, and do some soul searching. Once I get back from my trip I’ll hopefully have a game plan. In the meantime, if you hear of any design opportunities in the LA area, please let me know!
(This is my Dice relaxing on my desk. He’s not going to be able to do that much anymore…)

Sorry to hear about the layoff. You have a wonderful attitude btw, I try to accept change in a positive way too. Best of luck to you in this new chapter!
Oh, Amanda, sorry to hear of your lay-off. I love your attitude! Not to get all Mrs. Bright Side on you, but whenever one door closes, well, you know…You’re very talented, so this unfortunate event will be a blessing in disguise. All the best!
