From now on Friday posts will be more than just an update on my weekend plans… I’m going to give you some ways to waste time! Here are 5 things I found and loved this week…

We walked to the subway from our house, took it to Union Station and walked to dinner in Olvera Street.

Colourcode – I played with this site for hours when I discovered it. Holy wow… Click the icon in the upper left corner, and you can create some really beautiful color palettes. Book mark this for the next project you do. You’ll thank me later.

Babylon Light – These light fixtures are incredible. I had one of those, why didn’t I think of that? moments… I would love to see if someone could do a cheap DIY for this. Any takers?

Ladybug plays with sprinkles – Seriously people, this is just about the most adorable thing in the world.

& Other Stories – Found this beautiful site the other day. It’s not the best as far as getting me to buy something (kinda confusing) but I scrolled through the homepage in awe for a good hour.

The Summery Serape – I’m obsessed with this idea. We’re going to the Long Beach flea on Sunday, and I really hope I can score A. a vintage serape for cheap and/or B. a stool that needs a make-over. Wish me luck!

I’m not sure where this week went… but I guess it’s good being busy with work.

We’re getting started on wedding DIY projects this weekend, and I couldn’t be more excited! Firstly because crafting with friends is always fun, but also I’m looking forward to knocking stuff off my to-do list.

Lots of celebrating in store this weekend with a bridal shower for a friend and a birthday party!

What about you guys? Any fun plans this weekend?

This has been a jam packed week, but this weekend is going to be even busier. M’s family flies in today and then it’s bridal shower time on Saturday! Thankfully all this pressure has made me super productive this week. I finished a couple projects, baked treats for the party, and cleaned the entire apartment (with help from M of course). I can’t wait to finally have some fun and relax with my family.

I hope you had a productive week as well. What fun plans do you have going on this weekend?

(I just love when peonies get full and open)

It’s about time for another Mix Tape, yeah? Here are some up-beat tunes I’ve been loving lately:

I’ve been making mix tapes on Spotify for over a year now! Check out last year’s Spring Fever playlist while you’re at it.

Every once in a while I get this deep longing for New York City. I call it my “New York State of Mind”. It’s odd because I’ve only been there once—Thanksgiving a couple years ago. Maybe I watch too many movies and TV shows that take place in that city.

When we were there a couple years ago, I was kind of nervous that I had built it up in my mind as this magical place, and I would be disappointed with the realities of the city. I was sure that I would feel like a tourist and my west-coastness would show. We drove into the city from Philadelphia and I fell asleep at some point during the drive. I woke up to the skyline and the Statue of Liberty. I couldn’t believe it. It was like I had been transported into the opening titles of one of my favorite movies.

With just a couple steps onto the pavement, I felt at home. I could walk as fast as the native New Yorker. I could easily find my way around. The crisp fall air invigorated me and I wanted to explore the park and buy a bagel and a coffee from a food cart.

(I took this photo on Thanksgiving day, walking through Central Park after the Macy’s Day Parade)

I want the busy streets, the old, towering buildings, the changing weather, and the necessity to get out of the house and walk somewhere. Los Angeles is just so different. I live on a quiet street in a medium sized city within a city. There’s a subway walking distance from my apartment, but I never use it. My car takes me everywhere—driving over an hour to get across town is not unusual and I might do it twice in one day. Being in the car I don’t bump into people, or see new shops open up or feel fresh air blow through my hair. The buildings are all about 3 stories high, built in the 70s and the same 3 colors of beige.

Moving to New York is just a distant dream at this point. M’s work keeps us firmly planted in The City of Angels for now. But I did a brave thing last night and sent my dream out to the Universe: Some day I will live in New York City. Even if it’s just for a month. And even if I learn that I’m a West Coast girl, and come running back to my homeland… I will try it.

For now I’ll watch You’ve Got Mail and drink latte’s…

Is there a place that you dream about living? What’s holding you back?

Hola! Happy Monday. You might have noticed the radio silence over here last week. I’ve been working non stop. My old company hires me every once in a while, and when they do, I rarely have time for anything else. When I’m not busting out stuff for them, I have all of my other freelance clients too. On top of all of that, M has started a new website idea and I’m helping him with the UX and UI. SO… it’s a tad busy around here.

No promises about this week’s blog schedule. I have some fun things in mind, but no time to actually develop them. I really appreciate your readership and your patience. Here’s hoping this week will be more balanced and will leave some breathing room.

I know I’m a bit late, but Happy Spring everyone! It’s felt like Spring here in LA for a few weeks now. I hope the snow is melting, and flowers are starting to wake up wherever you live too.

(I took this photo at my parents house last spring.)

Tomorrow is my dad’s birthday! Birthdays are always fun in my family, and always center around food. The birthday boy of girl selects a restaurant and we all go out to a nice dinner. Tomorrow night is Wurstküche for my sausage and beer loving dad.

But before dinner, we’re all going to a couple cactus and succulent nurseries in the valley to pick out plants for our wedding! My dad is a cactus/succulent know-it-all, so I put him in charge of the table centerpieces. It’s so fun having my parents involved in our wedding plans.

Hope you have a bright and colorful, fun filled weekend!

Literally and metaphorically. This week started out slow and has grown to full crazy. I went to bed at 4am this morning, and I’m only taking a 5 minute break to write this and wish you a happy weekend.

I hope you all have a lovely, relaxing, fun weekend! See you back here on Monday with hopefully some more time and energy. XO

Happy March everyone! Spring is just around the corner and I can’t wait. It already feels like spring here in Los Angeles, but I know that’s not true for most of the country. So here’s a fresh new desktop wallpaper to brighten up your computer screen.

I found this sweet Irish blessing, and thought it was a nice way to say hello to spring and bless all that’s coming this year. Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday and Happy February! I have a special gift to you today, a February desktop calendar! I took this photo on my trip to New York a couple years ago, and had fun adjusting the colors. Just click that image below to download a hi-res photo you can use all month long. (P.S. the colors in this image below aren’t as vibrant as the hi-res one… not sure why that happend. Click to see what I mean…)
