We’ll be celebrating our 6 month-aversary of being married, and our 5 years being together the same week as Valentine’s Day! Did I plan that right, or what?! There’s a lot to celebrate but we haven’t made any plans yet. I was browsing around Pinterest and found a few links that got me thinking about this upcoming Hallmark Holiday. Are you planning anything sweet or romantic this year?

My 5 Favorite Valentine Gift Ideas

1  //  I love love love these witty Downton Abbey Valentine Printables designed by yenniper. These would be perfect for quite a few of my family and friends. Download them at Cobalt & Dash.

2  //  I’ve always had a thing for anatomical hearts. You can buy a box of these cute cookies from Whipped Bakeshop  on Etsy.

3  //  Feel like making something sweet for your sweetheart? I love this clever (white chocolate) cheesecake from Cooking Classy. The heart design actually looks pretty simple to do!

4  //  There’s nothing like some pretty bold type to get you in the mood. Really pretty posters over at WordsDesignLove Etsy shop.

5  //  I heart my gold sequin heart clip from Ban.do. Lots of other cute girly hair accessories over there too.

I was delighted to see so many fall basics in the sale section of the J. Crew Factory website. Real good stuff. Here are a few things I’m particularly coveting right now. Would make a nice outfit all together, don’t you think? I might just have to get them all…

It’s been a weird, intense week. 4 day weeks always mess me up. I love the long weekend, but I feel like I’m behind on everything come Tuesday. M left for NYC yesterday morning, and I was up for 24 hours working on a crazy project deadline. Still working on it actually… and probably will be all weekend. But I really can’t complain. I love what I do, and with M out of the house, it’s a perfect time to hunker down with Bub and get stuff done!

(taken at the laundromat at 11pm on Wednesday…. one of those weeks)

Here are 5 things I found and loved this week:

Clementine Daily // A new women focused blog from some of the coolest girls on the web! I’m excited to follow along with this new site and see what it has to offer.

Blurred Lines Parody // The real “Blurred Lines” is such a fun, catchy song, but I was so disappointed when I saw the music video. This is brilliant parody of both the song and the original music video. More of this please!

Our maps are wrong // This blew me away when I watched this during my West Wing marathon a few months ago. I love that it’s going around the internet again.

Nom Nom Paleo // My go to Paleo Blog. I’ve made so many recipes from here already! The blogger, Michelle also has a cookbook and an ipad app.

The Lonely Island – Semicolon // I stumbled across this yesterday and had a good grammar nerd laugh.

I’ve posted at length about my love for cold, wet, gloomy days and the fall season in general. It’s been in the 90’s (or higher!) the past week here in LA, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to cool down any time soon—It’s supposed to be 102 tomorrow! Kill me now…

The only thing I can do is crank up the AC and look at coats and boots online. And so that’s exactly what I did.

Behold—the clothes I would wear everyday if I wouldn’t die of heat exhaustion:

No. 1   //   No. 2   //   No. 3   //   No. 4   //   No. 5   //   No. 6   //   No. 7

The funny thing is that this list is pretty reasonable most of the year here. Definitely for fall, winter and early spring. So I guess I just want things to go back to normal.

P.S. Only got a tumblr link for those boots. If you have the original source, please share!

Summer here from More Design Please. For those of you who may have recently caught the travel bug, here’s a list of my personal favorite carry-on essentials…

1.  Gum and mints. This is a MUST have. You just never know who you’re gonna sit next to on a plane! Stuck next to a stranger with funky breath? Offer ‘em some gum! Or perhaps you’re lucky enough to score the seat next to a total stud. Good thing you’ve got mints to cover up that peanut breath! phew!

2. Cosmetic Bag. Ladies, we all know why this is essential. Nobody looks good after a long plane ride. Your mirror and brush will come in handy at the end of your long ride.

3. Lip Balm Carrier. Clip it on your bag for easy access… No chapped lips for you!

4. Travel Tote. The bigger the better! It’s another piece of luggage after all.. and you won’t have to pay to check it in!

5. Thirst for Design Water Bottle. Love this ModCloth bottle, don’t you?

6. iPad mini. The best time-killer known to man.

7. Passport Holder. (If you’re lucky enough to have to travel outside the country!)

8. “Adulting” by Kelly Williams Brown… I’ve been dying to read this book. A nice long flight would be the perfect opportunity!

I think the first ones I’m going to have to try are the Red Wine Fudgesicles…. Holy YUM!

Which ones sound good to you?

With all this hot weather we’ve been having, I’m starting to get used to what will be my reality for the next 4 months. Along with the high temperatures and long sunny days, Summer also brings along popsicles, pool parties, shorts, and all things bring and colorful. All together I guess it’s not so bad. Here are some things I’m wishing for this summer.

For those of you who don’t know, I’m primarily a web designer, although a do a lot of branding too. I don’t post a lot about that huge part of my life here, and so I thought I’d change it up, and start sharing more of that with you. Most people now days need a brand a website, so I hope I can be a source of information and inspiration if you’re trying to rebrand, build a brand from the ground up, need a new website, or are in the industry yourself.

I’m starting things out slow with some sites I just think are beautiful.

Mercer Tavern // I really love the monochromatic color palette and the modular design. Each box has it’s own information, laid out in it’s own way, but it all works together.

Emporium Pies // This is such a beautiful site. The photography is gorgeous, and the layout is simple. A user is able to get the information fast, which is the most important thing.

Ever Lovin’ Press // This is a really simple portfolio type site. The colors are really great, and it doesn’t hurt that their work is awesome. It makes you want to click to see more.

Cirq // This site is different, and that’s why it works. It looks like an old newspaper or something. I love the use of color, and all the vintage type. Don’t be afraid to step outside the box, and change things up.

I’ve started a pinboard all about web design so follow along if you’re at all interested. And let me know if there’s anything you want me to address or post about in the future! This is going to be fun.

Mustard is one of my favorite colors for fall. It’s bright, neutral, and warm all at the same time. You just can’t go wrong. Here are some of my favorite mustard items for the season.

Happy Back-to-School! I’ve told you before of my slight obsession with office supplies. Going back to school shopping was an event I looked forward to every August. Even though I won’t be going back to school this year, I will be redesigning my office (more on that later) and can’t wait to pick up some new supplies! Freshly sharpened pencils, notebooks, and washi tape always get the creative juices flowing!

Check out these finds for your office or your locker.
